Going downtown
GREENVILLE - Rather than sit back and let a rough economy take its toll, a group of business owners in downtown Greenville has banded together to help bolster business.
The group calls itself Meet Downtown.
"Our goal of doing things together is to make downtown (Greenville) a destination," said Chairwoman Deb Huch, owner of Huch's Fine Jewelry. "We're in the very early stages of this."
Forming last fall, the group of nine business owners are working on ideas that will not only help bolster business but also promote the downtown area.
"We have a fabulous downtown," said Vice Chairwoman Bobbi Calkins, owner of West 57 Design. "(Meet Downtown) is a great opportunity to try to get business downtown."
Its first order of business was to establish the geographical boundaries of what is considered "downtown" Greenville, Huch said.
