My Town: Free Cone Day March 20 to help hospitalized children

GREENVILLE, Mich.—Enjoy a free ice cream cone and help hospitalized children during a special event this Thursday, March 20 at participating Dairy Queen stores.

From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., more than 50 Dairy Queens in Michigan will be taking part in Free Cone Day, including the Dairy Queen at 1015 W. Washington in Greenville. The stores will give out free soft serve cones in exchange for a donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This year, the money will help provide services and equipment at Beaumont Children’s Hospital.

"Last year, nearly 30,000 free cones were served and more than $20,000 was raised on Free Cone Day," says Matt Romkey, associate director Children's Miracle Network Hospitals at Beaumont Children's Hospital. "All of the money raised at DQ on Free Cone Day stays local and provides life-saving care for more than 100,000 sick and injured children treated at Beaumont Children's Hospital each year."

Since 1988, Dairy Queen has donated more than $250,000 to CMN Hospitals at Beaumont Children’s Hospital.
