My Town Belding: City to consider switching to 'green' lighting

BELDING, Mich.—The City of Belding is one step closer to being greener.

During their regular meeting Tuesday, July 15, city council members are expected to approve a proposal to replace current lighting at City Hall and the Department of Public Works with LEDs.  The proposal from G & D Electric comes with a price tag of $26,990.88, after a rebate from Consumers Energy’s Small Business Program.  However, the switchover is expected to save the city money long term; Consumers says the average project pays back its cost in energy savings in less than a year.

Tuesday’s city council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Pere Marquette Depot, located at 100 Depot Street.
