The Ionia County Substance Abuse Initiative (ICSAI) is here to help you make the most of staying ahead of the game and find common ground with your teen. Shoulder to Shoulder is dedicated to helping make your job easier by connecting fellow parents and caregivers, and sharing the insight of those who have been there before. Whether you're looking to help fellow parents or get help from fellow parents and other organizations, the Shoulder to Shoulder Training is a good fit for you.

Sunday, November 9 from 2pm-4pm, guests will have the opportunity to meet members of the Flat River SCTP team, have the chance for Q & A, along with being present to watch shooting demonstrations by Two -Time National Champions at 2:00pm & 3:00pm. (In the case of inclement weather, this event will be postponed until Spring!)

Flat River Library Special Event November 18, 2014

If you are looking for an interesting and informative evening, plan on attending this event in Greenville, MI on November 18th at the Flat River Library, located at 200 W. Judd from 6 – 8pm.

Michigan’s Orphan Train is about 12,500 orphans from New York City and the Boston area, who were taken from the streets and placed in Michigan from 1854 – 1927. Many of these children were never actually adopted but were used as teenage labor.

Join in the research with historians and television producers, Al and David Eicher, who will share details about this obscure time in Michigan’s history.

St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish Will Host Juried Arts and Crafts Show With 1,000 Items Nov. 14-15

GRAND HAVEN, Mich., OCT. 10, 2014―Over 1,000 arts and crafts items from among 50 vendors will be featured for the general public and Christmas shoppers during the St. Patrick―St. Anthony Parish Juried Arts & Crafts Show.  The event will be held Friday, November 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the parish Family Center.

 

St. Patrick―St. Anthony Parish is located at 920 Fulton Street, directly off Highway 31 in Grand Haven.  Anyone is welcome to attend and there is no charge for admission.

 

The parish’s “MOM’s Group” will put on a festive luncheon both days, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Attendees may choose from among a display of hearty soups, salads, quiche and desserts available.

 

“We are encouraging anyone to come and make it a ladies day outing, as this event coincides with the opening day of deer-hunting season,” said Ellen Valdez, St.

Theresa Flores, the author of this book and a suvivor of human trafficking, will be the featured speaker. My Town Belding: Citywide garage sale starts Sept. 19

BELDING, Mich.—Bargain hunters beware- a citywide garage sale is happening in Belding this weekend.

The event will take place Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20 on 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The city will provide maps for free to interested sellers. 

Each map includes the location of registered garage sale sites, as well as some of the items at each sale.

GRAND HAVEN, MICH., SEPT. 18, 2014―In observance of United Nations’ “International Day of Peace” worldwide, the general public is invited to a local observance at St. Patrick―St. Anthony Parish to join in the dedication of a hand-crafted Peace Pole on Sunday, September 21st at 4 p.m. on the outdoor south side of the church, at 920 Fulton Avenue in Grand Haven.

“Pope Francis has asked all people to observe the upcoming International Day of Peace no matter whether they attend church or not and we welcome anyone who is interested to join us as we dedicate this long-lasting monument to peace,” said Sally Moser, an International Day of Peace event organizer with St. Patrick-St.
