BELDING, Mich.—A Belding Area High School student is one step closer to winning Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.

Brian Daller is one of 20 Michigan high school seniors to move onto the competition’s next round as a state finalist. The pool of applicants was whittled down from 986 statewide, based who best embodied the Heisman spirit of hard work and dedication to athletics, academics and their community/school.

Two state winners—one male and one female-- will be announced Monday, November 4.  The teenagers will then move onto the national competition, which will whittle the group down to 12 people.  Each national finalist will be featured on ESPN and receive a gold medal and $2,000 award for their high school.  The national finalists will then travel to New York City for a chance to win the national title.  The male and female national winners will get a trophy, $500 gift certificate to Wendy’s and a $10,000 donation to their respective school.  The winners will also be recognized during the collegiate Heisman Trophy announcement on ESPN on December 14.

This is the 20th year for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.
