Snyder’s Request for Federal Disaster Assistance Approved

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

LANSING, MICH. Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved his request for a disaster declaration for Mecosta County, making low-interest disaster loans available to residents and businesses affected by severe flooding in late January and early February.

The declaration covers Mecosta County and the neighboring counties of Clare, Isabella, Lake, Montcalm, Newaygo and Osceola.

“I am pleased the Small Business Administration will provide financial assistance to individuals and businesses affected by the floods,” Snyder said. “The availability of these loans will bring some relief to those working to recover and rebuild.”

Baldwin Heights Elementary in Top 100 For Box Top Collection
Baldwin Heights Elementary students recently watched a special concert. Principal Michael Walsh did a "concert" for the kids because Julie Oddy's 3rd grade class collected the most box tops and labels for the 1st three months of school. The class chose to have Mr. Walsh sing "call me maybe" in a dress and wig. During that time, more than 43,000 box tops were collected by the school, resulting in a check for more than $4,300 that will be used to buy library books, school supplies, playground equipment and more.
